One of my favorite workouts! Came here about 3 times a month to do the grind when I was living in Vancouver. Awesome cardio challenge that's like a stairclimber with the bonus of it being a nature trail added on. Sad that anyone takes the gondola up. The Gondola down is recommended however. The reward is there's tons to do at the top! LOVE THIS PLACE!

The weather was just perfect for a mid morning ascent of Grouse Mountain. The trail was in great condition and the staff up top were very friendly. My only complaint was the height of the ball gag holds on the tram. As a shorter individual I found it awkward to get it fully in my mouth. I could tell that other people found the height alarming as they weren't using them properly. They had to use their hands! :(

Quintessential Vancouver. It's one of those things any local or visitor should do at least once.

The hike is steep with plenty of stairs. I tell people it'll roughly take you as long as your 10km running time. 1:15 is average, 1 hour is good, 45 minutes is great, and 30 is elite level.

The payoff is amazing! Grouse has facilities up top for food, coffee, the bear pen, more hiking trails, the windmill, and plenty of family activities.

Worth mentioning that dogs are NOT allowed on the grind, and you are not allowed to go down the grind. There is a parallel trail called the BCMC which allows both these things.

You can take the gondola down to the parking lot for a fee. Currently it's $15 (used to be 10... used to be free..). You can hike down via the BCMC for free.

An excellent climb soaring above the city of Vancouver with epic 180 degree views and a physical sense of achievement. You start from the parking lot (plenty of bays) then immediately stop ascending through heavy Woodland scenery up rock and stone steps. Please carry water and some basic food items as nothing is available until you reach the summit. Progress is marked by signs along the route and the 2/3 mark is the steepest and most challenging.. keep going and you will make it! The last 20% is where you will be rewarded with a sense of accomplishment. Ensure you have the right footwear (no flip flops) and fitness to make it up. It is possible to do the trail in the rain however you will need waterproof boots and please be aware that it gets slippery. Note that the trail is one way only and that the gondola down costs $15. At times (November and March) it is possible to traverse down the trail too but check local conditions and call ahead of you plan on doing this.

It's always a good time on Grouse Grind. It is pretty challenging but there are places the side of the trail so you can rest and let people pass. The view is really nice once you get up there. You can't come down from the top and had to spend money to take the gondola though. The sense of accomplishment t is great know that you can complete this trail. A decent workout for average active people, but even my 12 year old brother was able to do it given a good pacing and rest in between.
