  Although the ambience was in keeping with our event, I was sorely disappointed in the menu, the price of the meal and the service.
  Our evening out to dine at Chez Julien Bistro in La Prairie was to celebrate our tenth anniversary, a special day for us! Neither one one of us is young and I am handicapped using either a walker or a cane. The entrance is not lit at all, making it both difficult and dangerous to Enter or exit the restaurant, so please be careful.
  
  We had a nice corner table looking out across the quaint street running in front of Chez Julien Bistro. A beautiful towering church sat in all its glory across the street and held my attention for quite some time. Our waitress greeted us well and we had our first glimpse at the wine list and menu. Chardonnay is my liking so I ordered a glass of Canadian Chardonnay which was fine. It was not particularly chilled and the amount was far from generous as the large, empty, wine glass at the table was first removed and then replaced with my much smaller one, but I said nothing. A first choice of mine is always fish. The waitress needed to explain the dish to me because it is apparently different each evening. Unfortunately, the white fish had an escargot white sauce over the top of it, a taste for which I do not care. At a price of $29.00, gnocchi with a simple lettuce salad was my order; indeed, a tasty meal but hardly worth the cost. We split a piece of chocolate caramel cheesecake and I ordered coffee with cream but was told there was no cream. I was utterly amazed! A French restaurant with no cream! Appalling!
  
  Our waitress was sweet but we tried many times to get her attention and had no luck. We both found that very frustrating. Once it was our “turn” to be serviced, she was fine, except my husband did need to remind her of the bread he had previously ordered.
  
  We had had a $25.00 gift certificate, so after using it, our bill came to $98.00.
  
  Neither one of us regret having spent the evening of our tenth Wedding Anniversary at Chez Julien Bistr, however we do wish our experience had been more in line with memories of other quintessential French restaurants we had been to previously.

  Here during a quiet Wednesday night. Food was amazing. The oyster appetizer was very good followed up by an even more impressive halibut dish. Would recommend to anyone.

  We went there as a group, the services and foods was excellent. The waiters made sure our glasses was never empty and accommodate everyone with their little need.
