Nearly all possible consequences of poverty have an impact on children' lives. Poor infrastructures, unemployment, lack of basic services and income reflect on their lack of education, malnutrition, violence at home and outside, child labor, diseases of all kinds, transmitted by the family or through the environment. This is why we should be grateful for what we have. School is one of the most important things in our lives! If we are not educated then we do not have the skills needed to function in everyday society. School not only helps students learn necessary concepts and skills, but it also allows students to interact with other students socially, academically, and emotionally.School is important to me because it is one of the first stages of our lives. School helps us get through life; it teaches us how to deal with everyday problems. School is also important because of the relationships you build with others, which makes your social confidence increase. The first thing that strikes me about education is knowledge gain. Education gives us a knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. People debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing that gives knowledge. Some say education is the process of gaining information about the surrounding world while knowledge is something very different. They are right. But then again, information cannot be converted into knowledge without education. Education makes us capable of interpreting things, among other things. It is not just about lessons in textbooks. It is about the lessons of life. One thing I wish I can do is, to provide education for all: no child left behind and change the world for good!!
Therefore, I am very happy and glad I have such an opportunity and want to mention that DCPS is a great school!

Great school! Many nice people, including caring teachers who want you to do your best. Lots of opportunity, which we are all lucky to have. We are well aware that not many get this chance. There are several kids in Sub-Saharan Africa who instead of getting their proper education, are forced to walk several hours a day in the long, dry heat, just to get a bit of water. Not clean water either. Dirty water, which can make you extremely ill, and may result in death. Meanwhile, here in Canada, we can get fresh, clean water in less than a minute. It really is not fair, to have your life already decided for you because of the place or family you were born into. To make things just, we must value our own lives, and our school.

I am also proud to be part of the DCPS community. We have won many awards, such as Basketball, Badminton, Cross Country, Track and Field and more. Another thing I am proud to mention is that we are a platinum Eco school, which means we are aware of the environment and how to be Eco-friendly, something that is vital in society nowadays.

One of the greatest things about our school is our acknowledgement to the first nations, who's traditional land we currently are on. Acknowledging territory shows recognition of and respect for Aboriginal Peoples. It is recognition of their presence both in the past and the present. Recognition and respect are essential elements of establishing healthy, reciprocal relations. I love the fact that our school does so much, to show that they really care. I am glad to be at a school where there is so much positivity. Some of the things our school does is:
-Acknowledging the first nations every assembly (once or twice a month)
    - Incorporating reconciliation and first nations into lessons
    - Aboriginal paintings on the walls, such as the peace tree

Thank you to all the teachers for teaching us and taking part in our learning, the office staff for organizing the school, the caretakers for looking after us, and of course, our principal and vice principal (Mrs. Durrani and Mr. Yoshiki respectively) for making this the best school ever!
