    While the staff are generally lovely and patient while you are shopping, and they carry some great products, the service we received specifically from the owner, was increasingly frustrating and unprofessional. To be balanced, we took a long time deciding on what we wanted, and we were very specific on what we wanted. We placed the order about a week and a half before we needed it (they and one other are the only distributors of Appalachian Flooring in town). At his suggestion, and with assurances a sample would arrive for our return, we left for vacation. When we returned he hadn't actually placed the order yet, saying he tried to fax it for three days straight. Why one wouldn't call or email or look at the fax transmission report and ensure the order was received after the first two days is beyond me. He told us it was the manufacturer's, Appalachian Flooring's, fault and encouraged us to call them. When I did, the customer service person said they couldn't give us details on our order as their customer was Fitzgerald's not us. He eventually got the sample and product in town where we picked it up ourselves, but made us feel as if we were the ones to have done something wrong.

    The special cleaning and repair kit which was over $100 was already opened, extremely dirty (black soot like stuff inside the already opened box) and it was very clearly labelled on the outside of the box for the wrong product! (ours is specifically Bauhaus and they gave us Neo Classic ). I told him about it within days, and he didn't suggest anything proactive. When I returned it myself to the store a week and a half ago he was rude about it and gave nothing in the way of an apology - despite it being a very obvious mistake. I tried to smooth things out a bit, since we were at least happy with the product and installation done by another flooring store (who were more than awesome btw), but he didn't take the opportunity.
    This weekend we called the store to get an update on the replacement for the cleaning product, and we were told they had to wait for the Appalachian rep to come in to "decide if it was the wrong stuff or not" - which it clearly is. Why wouldn't they at least call to give us a status update, or not sound annoyed with us for asking? And in what world is the state of the repair kit they gave us acceptable? See attached pictures. Again the level of professionalism and knowledge, here leaves something to be desired. We just thought since the sales people had been so helpful we should really buy through them. It proved more complicated.

    [Update and 1 star increase] Dee, one of the better customer service reps, reached out and refunded our cleaning product purchase and apologized for the issues we had. I'd suggest dealing with her.

    We were looking for a carpet runner to match existing colours of hardwood and walls - very difficult. Dee was very helpful and knowledgeable - and even made an inhome visit to assist us. A previous selection I made without Dee's help was wrong and she made it right for us, with prompt service and the Beautiful Guarantee. I recommend Fitzgerald Carpet One and will definitely go back.
