(June 13, 2019, 1:07 pm)Small mom and pop shop that reminded me of my family's restaurant back in the day. Older couple running it, husband cooks while wife serves. Sweetest old lady you've ever met. Food is tasty and cooked to hear perfection. Whatever they put in the rye toast is amazing. It isn't like any other rye I've had before. Highly recommend you get it with your breakfast

(June 1, 2019, 10:39 am)The food is awesome! The Checkerboard is an old school Mom and Pop restaurant where you feel welcomed as soon as you enter. The staff is amazing, and the prices are too good to be true. This place brings back memories for me and many of the long term patrons. Best fries and gravy since I was 16.

It's a smaller restaurant so there's not a TON of seating, but it's always a brief wait for a table (10 minutes max). The menu is classic, seems untouched since they opened - keeping prices low. The service is always good, seems like home when you're there. Food is great, I've been there upwards of 25 times and have never had any issues.
Would definitely recommend!
