This dog park is the best public dog park in the tri-cities. Not really places for owners to stand around so dog are typically better behaved. It is also larger than the others.
A great place to let the dogs roam free, and to play with other dogs. It is roughly about 500m x 500m in size, so quite large. Also good for me to walk at my own, much slower pace! Quite muddy in milder, wet weather though......
My plea to other pet owners: Please do not personally greet or play with other dogs in the park. ???? You don't know the dog you might reach out to. Just my opinion, thank you. ????
Pretty much the only decent dog park in kitchener, the 2 reasons I'm giving it 3 stars is the inconvenience of there only being one garbage can at the top of the hill outside of the dog park, due to it being so far away I've noticed that lots of dog owners don't always pick up after their dogs, or they leave the used baggies tied to the fences.
There is also a general rule that children under the age of (I think) 7 aren't allowed into dog parks, I've seen numerous instances where parents come in with infants or very young kids (quite a few who seem to just scream at the dogs and freak them out).
I personally get concerned with because its a space meant for the dogs to run around and play rough, I wouldn't want my dog to ever accidentally knock over a kid and have to deal with their parents.
Other than that the other dog owners are usually very friendly and the dogs are well behaved.
The dog loves to run there, the walk isn't too tiring for the owner and the views are quite nice despite the proximity to the highway.
I'd had seen instances of dog poo lying around which seems irresponsible by people.
I also tried to move the marker so that Google Maps sends me to the parking lot rather than the public school when I am navigating to get there. First time I went there I had typed in Bechtel Park and got to the right place, second time I went for the dog park and was sent to the public school since it seemed the closest point from which to get to the dog park...
