I was originally dragged there by my friend who is a Quaker and decided to go just to see what it was all about, and I was pleasantly surprised. You will find a very diverse and open minded group of nice people from academics, to hippies, to little old ladies who where hippies back in the day!
The meeting its self was a very quiet affair that consisted of simply sitting there meditating and just becoming one with everyone and thing. If you have never been before they have a great pamphlet on how the meeting works, what to expect and after the meeting there's tea, cookies and deliciousness!
This meeting is in the around 11% of Quaker meetings that practice waiting/unprogrammed worship, which means God and Jesus are kept to a bare minimum which is great for an atheist like me.
I don't know why my review was so low. I am a member of Inkwell and as you know we used Friends House for the launch of our two Anthologies. I loved the room and how it was decorated. Thank you for letting us use your place both years. I think many folks had a great day.
A lovely place. Amazing, incredibly hospitable people and a peaceful place to escape from the hustle and bustle of Toronto.
Where the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) meetin in Toronto to Worship, have meetings, and meals. There is a Quaker library and meeting space available for rental to non-profit organizations and community-based groups.
Quiet & serene oasis in the midst of city bustle, but close to many resources. Kind & patient, yet efficient & dedicated staff
