Having read so many negative reviews, I dreaded this morning's phone call. However, I HAD to, so I called.
The lady who answered the telephone was friendly and professional. I had reached her in error and she gave me the e-mail address of the person whom I was supposed to contact, who was at that stage helping someone at the front desk.
What I did to receive such friendly help?
(Should the lady who answered the phone read this: Thank you; you're GREAT! I promise to work on my IsiZulu - en ek waardeer die feit dat u my ook in my eie taal, Afrikaans gegroet het!)

Excellent service from very helpful staff. Everyone was courteous and polite. Door opened at 08.30am and I was done in 15 minutes. Consulate is in a good location and accessable from the subway.
