(April 7, 2018, 10:02 pm)I have ridden my bicycle in spring, summer and fall from York Mills Rd to just north of Eglinton Ave E using The Leaside Spur Trail and Don Mills Trail.
There are benefits to using this trail as opposed to riding on the road. You can avoid car traffic, sections are lined with trees that shelter you from wind and sun, the paving is in excellent smooth condition and, having once been a rail line, the grade changes are mild. The city has even provided a dedicated pedestrian and bicycle crossing at Lawrence Ave E.
When you get to the circles that denote access from surrounding neighbouhoods, take a look at the little section of rail that they embedded in the concrete so you can appreciate the history behind these trails.
These are great paths to bike, or to rollerblade, or walk with someone or your dog, so get outside and enjoy your city! -
