(March 24, 2022, 8:40 pm)Lena’s food is authentic Trinidadian-style food. It’s fresh, delicious, and flavourful. I absolutely love their doubles, curry mango, and curry chicken. The curry mango is a must-have! It’s unique and exploding with flavour. Their doubles actually has seasoning in it with multiple chutneys like bhandanya, mango, tamarind, cucumber, and pepper unlike other Trinidadian restaurants that I have been to. Plus, they have a lot of my favourite snacks and treats from Trinidad.
For context, my family’s background is Trinidadian and I have been to Trinidad. Not only does Lena’s food taste just like it does in Trinidad but it tastes just like my family’s way of cooking. You know the food is good when it reminds you of your family’s food growing up. I’ve been to several other restaurants in Toronto with great reviews that claim to serve authentic Trinidadian food when they don’t — it’s simply bland. Unfortunately, these other restaurants’ food lacks seasoning and they takes shortcuts by putting inauthentic ingredients in it (like tomato paste!). Anyway, I can’t recommend this place enough. Love this place and I can’t wait to go back again soon! -

(January 6, 2022, 12:01 am)Went in for take out. The young lady behind the counter was so friendly and nice she started a conversation with me and we laughed and talked while I waited for my food. Food was hot and fresh and soooo good!!! I definitely will be coming back.
