Had our first meal today... Started with the fish and chips and yup it was done right and tasty. Cold slaw was unique and yummy too. Looking forward to trying that menu when we can come in for dinner. 👍
Living in the community of Oro-Medonte has its advantages! Quiet, fresh air, amazing roads, hardly any traffic and beautiful colours in the summer and fall. But one of the disadvantages is of living north out of the way is a place to find amazing local food to eat. A place where the people of a sleepy community can feel like they have a identity.
Well tonight February 2nd, things have started to change. My wife and I live in Moonstone, we have always wanted some place local to eat in or take out. Something real, down to earth, to taste something that makes us wanting more, that you know isn’t out of a box or freezer with a high price tag.
The BlackSmith Gastro Pub ticked all the boxes! We decided to try the steak a feta salad and meat lovers pizza! The salad was amazing, the dressing was something that cannot be explained other then fresh, memorable and more then enough. Our pizza took us back to Naples in Italy. The crust was crispy, thin not doughy like other pizza. This was authentic true pizza.
For only being open a couple days they are off to a amazing start. You can tell they cook with love, inspiration and want to go a step above. This is what we needed in Moonstone! A restaurant that is at the top! Local, real and worth the drive, walk, bike ride or snowmobile.
I am proud to tell people that we have something great happening in our community. That we have a chef that doing something different! He is getting back to basics with a twist!
