This dojo is not only for training judo. You will find a new family.

The best judo club I ever saw in my entire life. My whole childhood I did judo and sambo back in Russia and took parts in Nationals. I’ve seen many different coaches and dojos. Alim and his dojo are the best. Before I brought my daughter to this club 8 years ago I checked all others in GTA and we stayed here. We owe all the success of our daughter, all her medals and trophies, her confidence, her strength, her coordination and flexibility, her very good looking with nice athletic shape to this club and to this sensei. Highly highly recommended!!

Let’s start this review by saying that we have been to different clubs in this city. They either advertise their former Olympic qualifier head coach champion status or try to impress you with the image of their wealth and success in judo business. Some even show off their taste of high life on social media. Their expensive cars and designer clothing, coaches & owners that come from wealthy backgrounds enticing newcomers with the status quo of their club.
These kind of clubs are actually only promoting themselves and shockingly they seem to be growing. This was not what we were looking for although I am sure that teenagers are attracted to this at this day and age. This is what Judo in Toronto is turning into.
By what are we looking for as parents?
I didn’t want martial arts coaches wearing Gucci and Prada to class. I have nothing against their financial success but I believe that Judo has some core values that must not be taken for granted. Just think of humility as a core value in Judo. What modern day kids in our country need are first and foremost coaches who are down to earth. Humble and yet confident. They need to be familiar with advanced teaching concepts, approachable and knowledgeable in child psychology. Why would you want you kids yelled at and bullied by a sensei or anyone with position of authority? I’ve heard parents say that this helps build strong character in a child and they are ok with it. How does that make sense to anyone? Only by showing dignity and being respectful to the kids you can teach them respect and make them into future leaders. We need more teachers who understand different developmental stages, teachers who are passionate about teaching, great at lighting up that fire within the students, and knowing how to encourage the young and up and coming competitors.
If you know any basic philosophy of Martial arts, especially judo, you will understand that this is no place for egotistical self-centered individuals who just can’t get enough of their own accomplishments. Show us how great you are by teaching our kids some of that greatness.
It took us a while, but we found a place in Vaughan called CHALLENGE SPORTS CLUB that does exactly that.
Once we met Alim and his staff, we knew that our search is over and we finally found the best Judo school for our seven year old son. I encourage you to go on their Facebook page and take a look at the photos. Just observe how happy those kids are.
The owner of this club, Alim is the reason why.
He never stops teaching, he is disciplined and extremely knowledgeable. A rare gem.
Yes he is a former champion, but he is the most humble, down to earth champion you will ever meet. Kids trust him and respect him, and so do the parents .
Take our word for it, go see their large gym, look at their schedule & meet the owner. Your child’s championship medals will come in time, there are no shortcuts, there is no rush, but make sure that your son or daughter is happy, that he/she loves each and every class, that they love the team and that the coaching staff is dedicated, professional and respectful to your child.
I challenge you to take this challenge.
You won’t be disappointed and most importantly your child will flourish.

Alim taught me self defence. I am not scared of people bullying me or fighting me, Thanks to Alim.
