Excellent trail, scenic walk by the river, trail is muddy in rain, so choose footwear accordingly. I've spotted wood ducks, mallards, Canada geese (of course) and a few more rare ducks. If you venture towards the south of the trail, you may even spot spruce grouse. I've heard their distinct call. Note there is whitetail in this area, I have seen large deer, and there is plenty of coyotes here (my backyard is on the trail, I hear them at night). Other wildlife includes muskrats, beavers, fishers, minks, raccoons, cottontail, bats and a host of other birds. Additionally, you may see snapping turtles and fish in the river (very large fish suntanning). Wild mushrooms are all over the place, I like the hawk wing mushrooms.

I remember kids skating on the reservoir before it had to be drained due to deterioration of the Dam. Those responsible for the park and trails including board walk, deserve congratulations for the design, quality of materials and attention to ecological priorities. Parking gravel surfaces need to be completed.

Sections of this trail are beautiful. An easy and safe trail to walk, with gentle hills. Perfect for beginners, families, walking, running, cycling, rollerblading, and any other trail exercise you choose.
