HIGH METABOLIC CLINIC

The High Metabolic Clinic (HMC) has been a life saver for me.

My attempts to lose weight for years has been like a yo-yo. I would drop the weight and then I would gain it all back and then some. Over and over this cycle went. I became very frustrated and it seemed my medications and prescriptions kept increasing while my body and health was declining and losing a great deal of self-esteem. I seemed to be slowing down and did not feel like being the sociable person I always am.

On one of my Doctor visit’s, I shared my desire to change and needed a new approach. I had tried all the other weight lost programs over the years, read many books on weight loss solutions, only to find I could not make this a lasting solution.

I was referred to the High Metabolic Clinic and told it was very different in approach and consultation. So, having nothing to lose, I thought I would give it a try and see for myself.

The first thing I noticed was the time taken in my meeting with a Dietitian. She spent a great deal of time asking questions and assessing my reason for being there and what I wanted too accomplish. Thinking back as too why I gained the weight, my causes and feelings and eating habits, was quite the wake-up call. Going back over the last 20+ years or so you can start to see a pattern. I never had a consultation in this depth before. The most important point I felt was to be 100% honest. If you cannot look inward and explain your feelings honestly, how can you correct and solve the issues at hand. I felt totally comfortable in discussing these and no judgement was pressed on me. You feel guilty already and adding more was not the point. Instead, I received a warm smile and we discussed how we are going to move forward using this meeting as a base line. Imagine, all of this on the first meeting.

For the first time I felt someone in the profession actually cared about me. I was not in a group receiving the same talk week after week. This was one on one!

This comprehensive approach to medical weight management gave me the resolve and courage to work through my challenges. Being dealt with on an individual basis means all of the attention is given to me. We are not all alike and our needs differ from person to person.

When meeting with Doctor High, we discuss any new challenges that might arise. Her approach to this process is exemplary. Health is checked, blood work to ensure my approach is on target. Actually, educating me on obesity, causes of it, what to do about it, understanding how your body reacts to weight change and the behaviour changes you can expect, is the key to the approach, professionalism, and dedication this clinic provides.

Where else can you receive your own personal eating and life coach. Their honesty, integrity and compassion has helped my lose over 75 pounds to date. Watching the weight loss rate, my moods and feelings, has changed my life. My self-esteem has increase dramatically. My doctors have started to reduce my medications as we journey on to my next phase. I talk about this clinic to as many as I can. They are shocked when they see the new me. My energy and mobility have enabled me to get out and participate with family and friends.
