We visited the restaurant on Monday June 28, 2020 for lunch - reservations made in advance via Bookenda. We also called the restaurant to confirm their COVID-19 protocol and were advised that all staff would be wearing masks. When we arrived, the hostess was not masked. Our server (Ricki) was, so we decided to stay. During our visit, we noted that other than our server, and the server who brought us our meal, none of the other staff wore masks. The servers were within less than two feet of other guests, taking orders, delivering meals and drinks and bringing the cheque (the only safety measure was asking us to sanitize our hands before using the credit card machine). We asked Ricki about the restaurants protocol when we were settling our bill. She informed us that the server would wear a mask IF requested by the guest. We explained that this is not what we were told when we called, she seemed surprised and told us she would mention it to management. We also told here that a few restaurants in Burlington (where we live) also did not have wait staff wearing masks, and that one of the reasons we came to the Boathouse was because of their policy. Since masks are not mandated provincially, though highly recommended as a best practice for restaurants, the Bronte Boathouse should be consistent in their messaging and safety protocols - this way their guests can make an informed choice whether to choose to dine there or not. If we were requested to wear a mask upon entering, and until we were served, we would have been happy to comply. Given the mixed messaging, it is unlikely we will dine here again - it is a lovely location, with great food and service, so truly unfortunate. These are unprecedented times, and if businesses want to survive and thrive, they must take this situation more seriously. I posted a similar constructive message on the restaurants FB page, and it was removed - a positive response advising of action steps to correct the issue would have been a more appropriate response!

We went today to Bronte Boathouse and it was really good. I love Bronte due to their variety of types of restaurants. This restaurant offers a bunch of fresh/summer foods. They have a bigger than the ordinary plates made with seafood since they are right at the lake. My girlfriend and I tried the drink summer bum and it was good. For starter, we got the steak tartare, so yummy, I could have eaten more than one. Our mains were lobster roll with fries and regular salad, picked burger with Caesar salad. Lobster roll was delicious, burger was good considering that they are not a burger place but I had better. Service was super friendly nice and efficient. We waited around 15 minutes for a table in the patio but inside they had plenty of free tables since it was very nice and warm day. It was worthy the visit and I would go back there.

Thank goodness we now have a great little spot in this fabulous location. Growing pains for sure but I saw the Doug wandering around making notes and talking to clients. These people know what they are doing. It will soon be perfect. Thanks Catch for doing this. My wife and I have walked past this location pretty much every day of the two years we have lived hear shaking our heads. You can rely on our support.

Wow ! Finally a lively relaxing, and fun place to go on the water front. The service is friendly, busy and efficient. I love the patio and the view of the harbour and wharf. I loved the lobster and shrimp roll and tuna avocado toasts. They have a nice bar inside. They have a great selection of beer. The signature burger is delicious. It is fun having your food served in boat styled plates. Definately worth a visit.

Exactly what Bronte needed! Fantastic patio with lots of seating, and nautical ambiance. Beautiful view. Great food, and friendly service. Also love Duckies - the ice cream parlor next door. Excellent experience, and the perfect way to enjoy the summer. Well done!
