Applevale Orchards

Lots of fun at applevale. Great hour out in the orchards picking 8-10 different types of apples and also pears. Got a huge bag of apples and pears. Then stopped by the shop and got some apple cider.

Everything tasted amazing when we got home. made pies, apple sauce, tarts and ate apples for days.

Can't wait to go back next year.

Great place to pick apples. $20 for a very large bag of apples!! Apples taste super yummy, staff was very helpful, and friendly. We went on a weekday, so it wasn't very busy at all. We support small businesses, and encourage everyone to buy local, especially now!

Had an amazing time at Applevale Orchards! We visited on a Saturday morning and there was no line to get in. They had a great variety of apples. I would definitely recommend going apple picking there!

Very nice farm with a large orchard where we could walk and get a real feel of being out of town. We had a lot of fun picking the apples. They have many varieties in addition to some pear trees. As a family, we paid $35 for the bag and it fitted 90 apples and pears. All great quality and sweet. We reached early and did not have to wait to enter. The best trees are towards the middle of the orchard as the ones nearer the entrance had been picked a lot. We also tried their excellent apple cider (it is non alcoholic)

We wanted to do something fun with the kids this weekend and decided to check out some apple orchards. The first one we went to, The Apple Orchard, had a 2 hour wait to get in. See my brief review on that page. We drove past many farms along Derry, so we stopped at Applevale. Unlike some farms that charge both an admission fee and charge for the apples picked, Applevale only requires you to spend a minimum of $20 on apples to gain entry.

In terms of Covid precautions, there weren't any except for one sign to stay 2m apart and a bottle of hand sanitizer at the entrance. We spent $20 for a large bag and went on our merry way.

There is a map showing which types of apples were located, but once we started walking, we realized that there weren't any signs indicating which apples are which, except for some coloured dots sprayed on some trees. Guess you had to taste each one to know what kind of apples you're picking!

There were quick a few families out at the farm, but as you walk further into the orchard, the crowds spaced themselves out. Would've been nice if there was a bathroom, oh well...

I would probably go again as the kids had lots of fun running around and eating the apples. The crowds weren't bad, so that's a bonus for me. No one was wearing masks outdoors, only the ladies at the front entrance.
