(July 29, 2019, 11:02 pm)I had wanted to visit the lift locks ever since I was a kid. My parents drove us through Peterborough every year but never stopped over. Now at the ripe old age of 71, I finally made it. These are the highest lift locks in the world. They have a very nice visitor centre with friendly informative staff.

(July 27, 2019, 2:49 am)One of the greatest waterways structures, that was the # one in the world for years. It works using water and gravity , the best practical example of the Lift Lock is a Seasaw ! You can find many good videos online about how a lift lock works, but remember do not mix the lift lock with Lock !!!!!
The Peterborough Lift Lock , has a great picnic area around the lift lock, very good visitor centre with great services, also there is a two hours cruise that passes through the lift lock. If you like engineering structures, do not miss this !!!!!
