(October 21, 2021, 10:45 pm)A fantastic example of 19th century hydraulic engineering still in use today. The welcome centre has decent exhibits explaining the operation of the lift lock and history of the Trent Severn, but seeing the lock operating is the real gem of this site.

(October 10, 2021, 7:22 pm)Fascinating spot. It's worth learning about the technology behind this lift lock, which is over 110 years old and the highest hydraulic lift lock in the world. We were lucky to have met one of the lock operators who let us know when the lock would be lifting the next boat - a very friendly and helpful gentleman!
