Both boys have been taken great care of for years by Dr Van Stralon.
It is unfortunate that only part of the story is told by reviews like these. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the system is stretched and Dr. van Stralen readily admits this. Our first appointment was at least 75 minutes. Dr. van Stralen spent time talking to us as well our son. She also reviewed a psychology report, report cards and questionnaires we had completed. We were nervous about starting medication but after it was explained to us we felt informed to make a decision. I would recommend this doctor - she is knowledgeable and takes time to explain. It is true our follow up appointments have been 15 minutes and 20 minutes in length but that was appropriate for what was needed. She also made recommendations for other services that can help.
Busy busy practice under pressure. She makes time for my daughter and assesses her mental state on a regular basis. she makes no excuses for the tightness of her schedule, nor should she. She is really excellent and in Ottawa we are lucky to have someone so dedicated to the mental health of our youth. Sadly, the city needs more practitioners so that we could all feel someone was listening to our needs.
