A fitting memorial and tribute to the legendary Lieutenant-Colonel who wrote the poem Flanders fields while serving in the first world war. The traditional symbol of remembrance, the poppy flower, is taking from his poem. As a gunner he is appropriately located next to the Royal Canadian Artillery memorial.
