Here's an honest opinion, that I believe Ridgemont HS should pay closely attention too for their own benefit. I am a recent grad, and from my experience with Ridgemont. I will state both the pros and cons of the school.

Pros: School is very diverse, including me as person of color, I greatly appreciate this. BUT one thing to understand is that, yes, cultures are different (and it's upsetting that some of the reviews complain about the diversity) and so some kids give off a behavior which unfortunately generalizes a racial group of kids in a negative way. I however, disagree. Coming from this school, people in general act bad, despite what race they are.

Now onto the cons (this will be a long list, due to how strictly overwhelmed I felt from this school):
    1) Ridgemont lacks in disciplining their students. I for one, hated seeing other students constantly interrupting teachers or having a disruptable behavior, only for teachers to give them a slap on the wrist or lash out. AS A TEACHER, you should never put your emotions first, but instead do what's right. i.e If a student is going on their phone in class, give them a warning, and if they continue to do it again, DO NOT call them out again. I hated this happening, because every second, teachers I had, would never end up teaching anything because all they would do is complain, and time would escalate quickly, and what do you know, class is over. Instead give ONE warning, and then pull them after class to have a one on one chat, on how they shouldn't be on their phones.
Another thing I despised, was how their were flaws of certain teachers. If you get easily emotional in class, DO NOT lash out on your students. It's awkward and is not a healthy learning environment. Moreover, do not be BIASED towards students. I'd also like to add that, I'd have some teachers take weeks, and some not even give me work back. I NEVER handed an assignment or homework late in my 4 years at RHS. Therefore, as a teacher, I need this behavior retaliated back. This lowered my mark on many occasions, which sucked for me since I needed high marks for a competitive program for uni.
No, I do not believe I have witnessed racism (thankfully), HOWEVER English teachers tend to be bias, or hard markers. THIS is high school, not a university for English. English Teachers need to understand, that english is a prerequisitive for many programs, and if the class average is low, then there is an issue with the marking or teaching. I've witnessed students crying, sucking up to teachers, and EVEN begging to get higher marks, and students who were favourited by teachers, unfortunately all did end up getting higher marks. This is unacceptable, treat students equally.
Now onto the math department, some math teachers were good. I took advanced calculus + advanced functions, and had well enough marks, BUT, there was a certain teacher in gr.10 (who I shall not name), who CERTAINLY had the worst teaching style I've ever witnessed. Looking back to it, as a university student, this was quite a horrible but a painful laugh. TEACHERS are here to teach, not to tell us to go to KhanAcademy and do work ourselves until the test comes up. I despised, going into that certain class, only to be seated and told to go on my device, log in, and then do a quiz, then go on khan academy and do work. I might as well just do it myself then? I had learnt NOTHING in this class, and this is why the math marks are low in ridgemont. I believe I had a professor, who approached this in the best manner ever. If you'd like to incorporate technology into classrooms, USE SLIDESHOWS. Put a definition, then some examples, then practice problems. SHARE it with the students. The early grade 9 and grade 10 math, was highly flawed. I believe Powerpoints will greatly help the math department, the same could be said for science courses in fact.

DEAR RIDGEMONT: Take it from someone who's experienced it all as a student. USE this advice, and I believe the school will improved greatly. Education is important. Thanks.

I am mixed upon their are two sides of the school their are the lousy teens and the hard working teens, if I had advice to any freshmen coming to this school is, its just a normal high school using the same curriculum as any other school just be a hard worker. also racism in the school is very fake and they probably trying to embellish the fact teachers have made it feel like their punishment was hard.
