(January 19, 2019, 11:45 am)Beautiful nature conservation area but is now closed indefinitely to put in proper drainage system. The ice fishing is still going on but the conservation area is closed. Hopefully it isn't closed all summer.

(August 29, 2018, 1:53 pm)We enjoy coming to Petrie Island with the kids for the beautiful beaches, decent fishing spots (the kids caught their first fish off the dock), and wildlife (we've spotted herons, turtles, frogs, and seen many beaver-chewed stumps). It's a shame that parking isn't free during the summer season, seeing as there are many spaces available. As well, you really have to be careful about the water quality - check the Ottawa E. coli monitoring site and ensure that the levels are acceptable on the day you plan to visit. Otherwise, the sandy beaches are great for small kids and there are plenty of nice walking trails.

(August 22, 2018, 8:08 pm)It's sad to see a beautiful beach that we can't swim in it, because of bacteria. I am not blaming Petrie island. It is not a place that you want to relax and tan. It's more a place to play volleyball or other sports. They have lifeguards and they are really nice.

(August 10, 2018, 1:52 am)The only reason it doesn't get a 5 star is the quality of the beach + water. It is a river after all. :-) The sand close to the water is mixed with rocks but one can still walk around comfortably without shoes. Great place to spend the day with family and friends. Beach volley nets available, there was also a licensed bar with a DJ when I visited. Overall good atmosphere!

Is has a nice white beach, a natural and safe path to walk where you can see beavers in their natural environment, ports to park your boat and enjoying going around and everything. To me is one of the best beaches in Ottawa. And the sunset is amazing as you can see in my pics.
