(June 3, 2021, 5:01 pm)We weren’t expecting any establishments on our bike ride from Madoc to Bancroft but were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon the Rustic Roadside Restaurant. We ordered a couple of tarts and a raspberry pie: delicious, the crust was exquisite. Then Maggie tells us she's only been open one week, told us about her menu and we're ordering lunch. The deep fried pickles were the best I've tasted and the crusty chicken sandwich hit the spot. Definitely worth the stop and the detour from Bancroft of you're in the area.

(June 1, 2021, 1:41 pm)Decided to try the food based on the other reviews we read. We ordered Philly cheese stake sandwich, fish & chips, and a lemon merengue pie. Unbelievably delicious, all of it and the portions are huge. Next time we hope we'll be early enough for the coconut cream pie 😋. Of course we met Maggie, the owner, and got to know her a little bit as well. And the lovely lady behind the counter was great! We also got a loaf of white bread and, as recommended, made French toast with it - so good. We also got a butter tart - amazing. The best one we ever had. Such flaky crust! We can't wait to be back up there and to visit this gem of a place again to try something new.

(May 29, 2021, 2:21 pm)Ordered several of the different meals with some friends. Food was fabulous right down to the Banana Cream Pie for dessert. Would highly recommend this new restaurant. We will definitely be back. Owner Maggie is very nice and accommodating. 5 stars 🌟

(May 28, 2021, 12:35 pm)Great food, great prices, fun and welcoming restaurant with super friendly staff. Maggie, the new owner, was so accommodating...and ohhhh the bakery goodies!! I'm looking forward to going back when we can dine in and try her full menu in the renovated dining room♥️♥️♥️. Don't leave without trying her Milkshakes!!!

The food was great! Hamburgers were homemade, not the commercial frozen ones and the fries were like "chip truck" fries not the frozen ones.
Will be stopping in again!
Highly recommend stopping here on your travels
