I purchased a paddle back in September for an anniversary gift and my partner absolutely loved it. I'm so happy with how it turned out, and the entire process was such a positive experience. John walked me through the benefits of each different type of paddle, wood characteristics, finishes, which was helpful for someone who has never purchased a paddle before in her life (my partner has been canoeing and portaging for years, and now I'm hooked). John even sent me photos of how the engraving would look before it was done, which helped me to feel like I was really part of the creative process. And finally shipped the paddle to me incredibly speedily, even in Covid times! If you're looking for a beautiful, high-quality, hand-crafted paddle, look no further. I highly recommend purchasing a Redtail paddle for your next adventure!

(January 23, 2021, 4:58 am)The proprietor makes an array of handmade paddles. They are a work of art. They are very comfortable to hold and their form doesn't cause shoulder and arm strain for long paddle adventures - unlike the mass produced ones bought at box stores.

The only reason I can't give 5 stars is due to communication. Production of my order was delayed due to COVID, which in itself is fine, I totally understand. Unfortunately, when I ordered the website stated it should ship in 7-10 days, setting my expectations. I emailed after 3 weeks and not receiving a shipping notification, no reply. When I emailed again two weeks later John did get back to me and shipped out my order, but it would have been good if there was an update on the website, or an email to let me know the order was going to be delayed.
