I reached out to Carolyn for help when my 2 year old terrier, Skittles, was diagnosed with a luxating patella. My thoughts were that by building up the muscle around the knee, the risk of further movement of the kneecap would be minimized.
What differentiates Carolyn from others is her passion and her patience. Being new to rehabilitation, I had a lot of questions and I wanted to ensure I was doing things correctly. Carolyn supported my learning with written instructions outlining the exercises, answered my emails promptly and gave me feedback on videos that I sent her. In addition, rather than selling a bunch of equipment, she offered suggestions on how "props" could be re-purposed for various exercises.
Over a few short months, I have seen a noticeable change in Skittles but I still didn't have a full appreciation of the work we had put in until my friend's one year old terrier came to my house. I pulled out my large FitPAWS bone and had Skittles demonstrate standing on it. When my friend's dog got on, it was clearly evident that he could not maintain balance.
I highly recommend McIntyre Canine Rehabilitation. Carolyn is a trusted partner in my journey towards keeping my dog active and well.

We took our 9 year old Jack Russell Terrier to Carolyn for an assessment following a severe brain trauma one year and a half prior to our initial visit. He was quite unstable and the tremors that had developed following the accident and subsequent surgery to remove a chip from his skull that had lodged in the cerebellum had progressed. A follow up visit to the neurologist offered no answers for his deteriorating state and he was rapidly losing confidence to do his daily activities. Several sessions with Carolyn and he is feeling so much more confident and happy again in his farm life. Thank you so much for giving Toby his life back!

I need to say THANK YOU to Carolyn from the bottom of my heart!!!!! I reached out to Carolyn a few months ago to see if she could help my 6 year old Golden Retriever, Max.
Max was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia a few years back - but Max really didn't show any signs of deterioration at all. The only sign was that he would hover his right foot slightly above the floor when he stood. At the time of diagnoses Max was put on a pain reliever indefinitely. Recently I started to notice the wear on Max daily - he stopped running, still loved his walks but was labored if we went to far. He stopped climbing the stairs all together, he no longer laid at my feet where ever I was. I could see in his eyes that things were getting harder to manage for him. I contacted my vet and she suggested another pain med to add onto the existing one and to look towards physio therapy.
I looked through the internet extensively searching for someone who I thought would be somewhat helpful and had the credentials that I knew made them a professional. I found McIntyre Canine Rehabilitation- I reached out to Carolyn and instantly it was like she felt my pain for Max. We discussed what was happening with Max and Carolyn suggested that we meet so that she could see Max for herself and we would go from there.
The day we met I remember thinking to myself- I like this girl - she doesn't sugar coat things - she says it how it is- which I appreciate 100%. She really took some time with Max - she watched everything he did and then the 2 of us sat down and we talked. She told me in no uncertain terms that Max was much too heavy and for her to help him we needed to get some weight off him. Carolyn took some time to massage him and then used the laser on him - he melted in her lap. She was so good to him. She then taught him some strengthening exercises that I would need to continue for 2 weeks until we saw her again.
The next time she came I updated her on all that had been happening-Max was doing the stairs- not always but on his own sometimes. He started running our fence line with the neighbours dog again. The hover of his foot slowly stopped happening and he started to stand on his leg - all the time.
Each and every time Carolyn has come to see Max - she has taken such a keen interest in what she is doing with him. He is so excited to see her every time she arrives at the house he knows what he's in for. Max has made leaps and bounds towards being a much healthier happier dog due to the exercises that Carolyn provides, along with the massage, and laser and her physio techniques.
Without the knowledge and expertise of Carolyn I would not have my dog back - the way he used to be- I will say that he has the sparkle in his eyes back and is progressing so well that he is now back to a puppy state of being extremely mischevious- which I am so thankful for.
    P.S - Max has lost 5.8lbs!!!!!
THANK YOU again Carolyn- You are truly amazing.

MCR is the best of the best when it comes to canine physiotherapy and rehabilitation needs. It was well worth the 3-hours (one-way) trip to see Carolyn when I had concerns about my Agility dog short-striding on one of his back legs. More than one vet had already told me there was "nothing there" and that I was "imagining it", but I knew they were wrong. Carolyn saw the issue right away, and was able to diagnose the cause quickly and effectively, putting my mind at ease. She spoke clearly and effectively, explaining each part of the appointment so that I felt completely comfortable, and encouraged me to let her know if I sensed the dog needed a short break to take a little walk around. I never felt rushed in any way, as I have by other health care providers in the past. Carolyn also recommended exercises and stretches I could perform at home with the dog to help prevent the same issue, or future issues. Five stars isn't enough for the treatment my dog and I received!
