By the Bay Bed and Breakfast

We spent 5 nights at By the Bay, and wished to stay more. There are so many positive things to say about our stay, I'm sure I cannot do By the Bay justice. At the top of the list is Cathie, the wonderful, welcoming, knowledgeable host of By the Bay. By the Bay strikes the perfect B&B balance of welcoming communal atmosphere and relaxing privacy in your room (with a great view).
Our room was perfectly appointed, exceptionally clean, warm, and the bed was very comfortable. We visited in winter, which was cold, but so so pretty. We enjoyed our walks around the property, and we also enjoyed the view from the inside warmth of By the Bay.
By the Bay is a great location for seeing all the quaint fishing towns, scenic coastlines, coves, and bays, on the South Shore. It was lobster season, so everywhere we went, there were delicious lobster options (in addition to other yummy fresh seafood).
But we didn't have to go far for delicious food, Cathie is a wonderful cook! Each morning she made us a special breakfast that we loved, was healthy and kept us energized and full well into the afternoon. I will be trying some of the recipes at our home, remembering our great time at By the Bay. Cathie had several local items on the table for us to try and enjoy (local jams, syrup, sugar, bread).
This is the kind of travel experience you cannot get at a hotel or a cottage rental. We have not stayed at too many B&Bs, but this is one of the best and we would love to stay here again.

Just amazing. What a great B&B with an impressive breakfast. Cathy the owner is delightful. No wonder so many people keep coming back year after year. I can’t wait to go back again. Beautiful property and so close to all the tourist sites also.

Cathy is an exceptional hostess. Her home is warm and inviting. Her attention to details make you feel welcome and at home. By the Bay is a perfect little get away for anyone visiting Peggy's Cove and St. Margaret's Bay area. The breakfasts and hospitality are second to none. You won't regret it!

I have stayed at By the Bay Bed and Breakfast many times and have always experienced, warm, casual hospitality, clean and comfortable rooms, and delicious breakfasts. This is a one-person operation and the host is extremely well organised.

Note to the woman who realised on arrival that she didn't have a confirmed reservation. If I had not heard back from the host, had not confirmed with my credit card, and did not have a confirmation email, I would have followed up myself- long before my check-in date. Mistakes can happen to the best of us. This is true for any B&B.

We went for a house concert which is always fabulous. We have stayed here and it is a great experience. A house concert and an overnight stay is the best.
