What a trip! We’d never been to Newfoundland before and we’re totally impressed with the scenery, the local culture and especially Sand & Salt. A perfect spot for four couples. Beautiful, peaceful decor, food was fantastic and the views from the home are spectacular. The hiking is out of this world and perfect for all levels. A highly recommended trip!

A Hidden Gem.....If you have not already discovered Newfoundland it’s a must for your vacation buck list. We spent an incredible week at the Sand & Salt boutique vacation home, a truly unique experience that would rival any destination in the world. The location on a crest over looking the ocean is breathtaking and peaceful. A quaint boardwalk leads you to endless hiking paths with views of the ocean, and with a little luck you may enjoy a whale sighting. No hike is complete without picking some fresh blueberries. Within an hour of our location, there are endless opportunities to experience Newfoundland and all it has to offer—historic sites, endless hikes, delicious food, local entertainment and, of course, the most genuine hospitality you will ever experience from all the locals.

At the end of your daily explorations, you will return to the beautiful Sand & Salt. I loved the white decor through the entire home, so rich and inviting. The bedrooms are exceptional with king size beds and luxury linens. A favourite part of our stay was certainly enjoying our evening cocktails by the fire pit overlooking the ocean as the sun sets. We have many fond memories of our stay at Sand & Salt, a 5 star destination!

We can’t wait to come back to Western Bay and Salt and Sand! A very comfortable, traditional place to stay with a spectacular view. Endless hiking, silent icebergs and whales you can see from the deck at the right time of year. An easy drive from St John’s, close to dozens of quaint fishing villages and a private setting to just listen to the waves crash. A perfect place for family or friends to truly experience Newfoundland.
