Highly suggest doing a multi-day, wilderness first aid course with Matt and Canadian Outdoor Medical. Whether you enjoy outdoor adventures deep in the backcountry or just venture out to the local trails, then you will be better equipped for potential emergencies with this professional certification and training. I'll be back for a refresher every couple years.

This course is a must-do for anyone recreating, guiding or teaching in the outdoors. You will gain so much knowledge to feel prepared for any emergency scenario. Matt is a wonderful instructor, full of knowledge and information!

I was thrilled to take the Wilderness Advanced First Aid course with Canadian Outdoor Medical Consulting. Matt and Cat have nailed down a comprehensive, complete and practical system for delivering First Aid courses. Their combination of self-paced online reading and assessment material, combined with collegial and instructive in-person sessions made the learning intriguing, accessible and applicable. You get the meat-and-potatoes of the foundational knowledge needed to treat a variety of injuries and ailments which is then solidified with review and application through scenarios during the in-person portion. (all while following the latest local COVID guidelines, no less!)

Matt's experience as a paramedic clearly showed. He held our groups intrigue with his medical skills, fascinating paramedic stories and relevant questioning and scenarios. I was especially impressed by his knowledge of the most up-to-date paramedical literature. I can't recommend Cat and his' courses enough! What I learned will be put to good use (though hopefully not often) in my mountain-biking instruction career.

This is a necessary course if you participate in the outdoors. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and provide you with the tools, skills and confidence to respond to a situation. The content is very engaging and you are never not bored! Do this course. You will not regret it. You will be a better adventure partner for it!
