(July 2, 2017, 3:42 pm)Had my patio screen door re-screened by a company called Vancouver Screens.
It is a 48-inch x 80-inch door. I wanted it done in pet-resistant screen material.
First off ... just try to find pet-resistant screen of that dimension in The Lower Mainland!! Next to impossible. It has to be ordered in as a special order at virtually all home hardware stores (7-10 day wait) ... $50.00 plus tax .. then you have to buy new spline and screen roller $24.00 + tax ... then there is time and labour.
Or you can call one of those mobile screen repair companies. They have a minimum call out out fee ... $100 - $150 and even most of them don't carry the product ... have to order it in. I had estimates from several of them ranging from $135 - $175 and I would have to bring the screen door to them.
Vancouver Screens did the job for $75.00 all in!! I had to drop the door off at their location (there is one in Surrey) and pick it up ... but well worth it!! The job was done in three days.
