    B. suggested we go for dim sum. Haven't been for a while. It can cost a pretty penny normally, if one orders maybe about five small dishes.

    Staycation Dine-Out Activity! :-D

We haven't been to this restaurant in awhile, but this time I will put in my two cents worth. Apparently also known as Wah Lun Restaurant. Not sure if it's just a name change or if they changed ownership.

Read the reviews on Yelp, and it sounded decent. So off we go...

    We ended up ordering:

    1) Deep Fried Spicy Squid - tasty with a nice batter on it - not greasy and the squid was nice and tender.

    2) Deep Fried Taro Paste with Portuguese Sauce - my favourite! Hubby thought it was quite good also; and normally this is not his forte.

    3) Steamed Minced Pork Rissoles with Peanuts - another one of my go to dishes - nice size and they did a good job with it.

    4) Ryan's Special Baked BBQ Pork Buns - a nice change to the regular fare.

    5) Scallop and Shrimp Dumplings or Sui Mai - I was getting tired of Sui Mai but thought we'd order it. (Other restaurants tend to make it a bit fatty, but I thought I'd chance it.) These changed my mind on the matter.

I asked for some chili sauce earlier and felt bad thinking I wouldn't be using it - but forgot I had ordered #3 dish and a bit of vegetables, but oh well - the more dishes the merrier!?! lol

    6) Chicken and Rice Hotpot - B. enjoys this one usually - but thought it could of used a bit more chicken than they offered.

    7) We thought we'd indulge and ordered the Crab Claws - one of his favourites. It's recommended you call ahead and order however many you'd like (no minimum) - as it takes at least 25 minutes to prepare. At $6.50 a pop - it's a very good price - which would approx. be $8.00 at other places. Excellently done and a good size!

    8) Mini Egg Tarts - made fresh and a good custard consistency with a very nice pastry - another one of my favourites to have when I'm out for dim sum.

    9) One of B's faves - Deep Fried Sesame Paste Balls - not oily and a nice way to finish off the meal.

    10) B. likes to have a Chinese beer (Tsingtao) to settle his palate and I hear it goes nicely with the meal.

$2.00 for tea :-( ...If restaurants do not charge you for this, it's a bonus.

Overall, half decent prices for dim sum. We definitely will have leftovers for another lunch.

At least there's a good dim sum place in the neighbourhood!

I would give it 4 stars for quality and price.

My Uncle took my son and I out for lunch for Dim Sum around 1pm. I like the fact that they don't have carts and that you order from a picture menu and place your order on an order form and once filled you hand it to the server. The Pork sui mai, beef ball, scallop and shrimp dumpling, and beef rice flour roll were the stand outs. I've had better chicken feet and Pork footballs. I enjoyed the Gai Lan, and steamed spareribs with pumpkin. The stuffed eggplant was nice too. I think we ate too fast. We even took leftovers home.

They say if a restaurant is not busy to avoid it. We were here on Father's day for dim sum and it was bustling. After not too long of a wait we were seated and ordered our food. Every dish was expertly made. As usual we ordered more than we could eat so we took home the leftovers. Each dish was delicious and the bill was very reasonable.
