(February 1, 2019, 7:26 pm)I was having a lot of trouble with my eye classes fogging up when I was skiing - especially at Big White - aka Big White Out which is often prone to fog.
I tried everything - bought new top of the line SMITH goggles, used SMITH's anti fogging cloths, other anti fog cloths from local Okanagan optical stores, Zero Fog spray and another anti fog spray. Each with limited success.
Went to Mona Vision in Winfield, BC, and talked to Marsel the Optician there. He suggested some eye glass inserts and showed me how they would work with my ski goggles. They are an insert with a new lenses that fits inside your existing goggles and keeps the lenses way from your face and closer to the google lenses. They fit quite snug into your existing ski goggles so even if you fall they will not pop out.
THEY WORK FANTASTIC!!! Being skiing many times since then in various weather conditions and have never had any fog. It takes a few minutes to get use to them, as Marsel said it would, but once your brain adjusts to the lenses being farther away from your eyes they work great.
My eye prescription is pretty strong and my lenses for my regular glasses are quite expensive. Marsel explained that the lenses for the inserts would not be as expensive as they did not need the special coatings and were only made for distance and not bi-focal that I normally wear. The total cost for the new lenses and insert frames was quite reasonable and now I am enjoying skiing once again.
