We are thankful in our family ( all 4 of us took lessons)for the wonderful gift of music from Shoko. She was supportive and challenged each of us uniquely as individuals. We grew with each lesson our appreciation for artistry, theory and the self discipline it took. Shoko is far and away the best teacher I have ever had. Throughout my piano journey I have had the privilege of working with many instructors, but none come near the calibre of Shoko’s teaching. Her teaching brings life to music, drawing connections with music and nature. Not only is she a wonderful teacher, she is an amazing person. After many years of studying with her, I am delighted to say that she is more than a teacher, she is family.
Ms. Shoko Inoue is such a marvellous instructor, a superb pianist, and a beautiful person from inside out! She not only taught me how to play the piano, but also the philosophy of life such as how to relax and how to contain emotions. In addition to her professionalism as a pianist, she truly cares for her students and customises her lessons to suit each student's needs and personalities. I enjoyed every minute of my lessons with her.
Shoko is a phenomenal pedagogue, bringing an immense depth of technical knowledge and experience to each lesson which she is able to articulate at a level appropriate to the student. She also helps guide the student on their personal exploration of the emotional and spiritual qualities of music, gently encouraging each to shape their playing in a way that is uniquely their own. Shoko’s holistic approach to music lessons is unlike any that I have experienced previously and has led me to advance my studies and expand my love for music in ways unimagined.
Shoko has been an incredible gift in my life. More than my piano teacher, she has helped me to deepen my relationship with music, with the world, within me.
I’ve been taking lessons with her since 2016 and it’s been a wonderful journey. Shoko has the ability to see within me, she knows how and when to push me, she knows how to listen and how to work with me in a way that allows me to be open, receptive and vulnerable. I’ve never played music before and working with Shoko has taught me all the wonders that I have within me along with the magic of what I could keep discovering if I commit to my practice, if I listen.
She’s incredibly talented, inspiring. She’s kind, patient, connected with life and with nature. She has a unique way of teaching, of describing music, of living life. Thank you Skoko for being a key piece in my music and life journey!
