Sooke Flow Pipe Trail

This is a great hike. Would not recommend bringing pets or children as the pipe can be slippery and easily can be fallen off. If you are afraid of heights, or have poor balance, DO NOT go on this hike.

Easy access from the Sooke Potholes Parking lot #2. The trail starts right behind the red hut, I added a photo of trail entrance. For the hike itself, I would recommend long pants and long sleeve shirts as there are plenty of branches you could scratch yourself off.

The hike up to the flowline is about 10mins. Walking right along the line, about 7 minutes and you get to a very impressive trestle that has the flowline on top of it. Turning left, you can hike along for a while. You can stop at the pot holes on top of the flowline and jump into it. Hear the echos as well. We hiked about 2 hours this way and there was still plenty of trail to go.

Above Sooke Potholes Park is an old abandoned pipeline that many of us locals use as a trail - its 4.5ft in diameter. It winds its way through a beautiful forest of douglas fir and cedar and along the mossy bluff edges. It rests on small trestles where it crossing a stream. One relatively easy access is to take the Mary Vine Creek trail and go about 2 km. up from "Parking Lot #2" in Sooke Potholes Regional Park - go out the north end of the parking lot and cross the Galloping Goose Trail. Its a real adventure to explore! (Watch your step.)
