(September 11, 2019, 1:59 pm)My wife and I think this is a great place to camp. It's always clean and we feel safe camping out there. There's pull through sites and walk in renting sites with proper food storage.

It does not see like it is maintained well. Some campsites have several paid tags hanging from them -weather they are occupied or not.
In one of the campsite someone painted 6-7 rocks with bright colors and bible quotes. Not everyone is in to that, it is being shoved down your throat and not cleaned up. Don't overly agree with ruining nature.
We have stayed a few times and the campsites are not always cleaned after people leave. We have come in to garage, toys, burn debris all around the camp fire, but not in it.
Should show a bit more pride. -

(June 30, 2019, 8:52 pm)Gooseberry is a well treed family friendly campground. It is first come first serve so get there early. If you want to guarantee a spot for the weekend it's a good idea to head out Thursday, earlier if it is a long weekend. There are only pit toilets but there are some sites with electricity. There are also showers a short drive away at the McLean Creek Store. Fair warning there is a Texas Gate on highway 66 near by so you will hear cars passing over it throughout the day.

(June 19, 2019, 9:00 pm)It's very clean and definitely kid friendly. Our kids enjoyed our stay. The sites are somewhat private with lots of trees. The powered sites were an unexpected bonus. There is no water hook ups but less than a km away there is a dump station with potable water.
