Diner Fifty

I'm torn on how to review Diner Fifty. The food is surprisingly good. I don't know what spice/seasoning they put on the hash browns, but they are some of the best I've ever had. In addition, the prices are amazing when you factor in how much food you get. Where it loses marks however, is in the professionalism. The place seems to be run by a family with the dad doing the cooking while the mom and daughter take care of the front. While the dad can cook up some good food, he's in no way fast. In addition, the mom and daughter seem to have no idea what to do as servers. When I visited there was a grand total of 4 people in the place, but I stood at the door for 5min with no acknowledgement and then sat myself and waited 15min for a menu. My breakfast order came out on two separate plates 10min apart (pancakes came out late), no one checked on me after receiving my food, and I never received a coffee refill. The only multi person table had the same issue, with 2 people receiving 4 different plates across 30min (the last plate was refused as the dining companion had already finished). The mom alternated between giving the daughter orders and counting the money from the till, so she didn't really contribute anything. I feel like this family has zero restaurant experience and should seek out some sort of training as the food was good and they seem like a really lovely family. I'm hoping with time and experience they improve, but I'm worried they'll burn the bridge with a lot of customers before that.

Been here many times and will continue to go, despite the occasional having to explain your order a couple times due to the owners being from another country my father and I still come every week when we drive by. For the price you get a great amount of food and they are always working hard to please. They’ve made the odd mistake with order but they have immediately apologized and fixed it for us. It is a smaller “Mom and Pop” establishment. If you’re crazy picky about things you’d probably be better suited at a big restaurant. But if you enjoy a environment with great customer service and people who remember you as regulars then this is the place for you. They’ve always done good and treated us great and we would 100% recommend them to anyone looking to support a local restaurant!

Great value for the big breakfast special. Had lots to eat and was completely satisfied with the quality. The server was kind and quick to assist. I would definitely go there again!

Went with a couple of co workers, one gal had a hair in her food, sent it back, got another meal, hair in that food, cook simply laughed. Waitress is sweet but they really need to learn a bit more English to understand what their customers want. If you order something a little different off the menu or you ask a simple question "does fries come with that" it takes a conference of two or 3 people before they give you an answer. Could be a great place, good prices, good location, simple menu. Waitress does her best and is polite.
