I got a hold of Ian because I felt incredibly stagnant in my guitar playing and felt like I had hit a wall that I could not break through. I would hear songs that I wanted to jam along to so badly, and I would have ideas in my head for something to play but it never came out right. I felt like my guitar playing had peaked at such a low level. There are so many resources online, but I never felt like that any of them were what I needed. Ian figured out where I was at in guitar playing, and almost immediately I started making insane progress. Instead of giving you a cookie cutter lesson, Ian builds his lessons tailored to where your skill level is at and what you want to learn and improve on. He has an incredible knowledge of music theory and he can explain it in ways that just makes so much sense. With every mistake or bad habit I had, Ian had a solution and explained why it would help but ultimately leaves it up to you to decide if the fix works for you or not. Ultimately, the confidence I have gained on the guitar is insane and I encourage anybody at any skill level to try a couple lessons at least. You just won’t regret it.

"Ian Waye is an absolute pleasure to work with as a private instructor. He has given me incredible insight on how to develop proper technique through great exercises that are fun to play. He helped me with correcting improper technique that I have been doing for years. As a result, my playing has become much more clean and articulate. I would recommend anyone to Mr. Waye if you are looking for a guitar instructor who is a breeze to work with, as well as having a vast amount of knowledge and technical ability."

I rekindled my relationship with the guitar a while back after a sadly long hiatus. I figured “everything is online now, I’ll just teach myself”... yeah.. not so much. There is simply no substitute for the personalized attention and instruction of a professional teacher. Someone with the knowledge and experience to see where you are, and show you the next step on your journey. Ian’s knowledge of the instrument is matched only by his enthusiasm and I think he genuinely enjoys seeing his students get excited about the guitar. I can honestly say that I have experienced more gains studying with Ian over the past 3 months than I did in the 3 years previous fumbling around on my own. Focused instruction and practice routines combined with the encouragement to continue to improve have been the key for me. Can’t say enough good about the experience or Ian’s dedication to the process. I finally feel like I’m on the right path.

I began taking lessons with Ian as I was preparing for an audition to get into University. My first few lessons began with him teaching me the core techniques that would (and have) greatly helped my ability and understanding of playing the guitar. Once I had built a better understanding of technique, I was amazed at how easy other new techniques were to learn, such as alternate picking and sweep arpeggios. As my lessons continued, Ian would challenge me with new techniques and sometimes strange foreign guitar concepts which brought a whole new way for me to approach my creative side when writing a riff or doing a solo. Overall, Ian gave me the opportunity to turn myself into the guitarist I wanted to be but simply didn't know where to start. If you are someone who also doesn't know how to start your journey into guitar, or simply want to learn techniques or find new ways of approaching your instrument, then taking lessons with Ian will be an integral part of your journey.
